Hudson Prince Engineering & Inspection provided roadway engineering design services for the Cupco Road Grade, Drain, Surface, and Bridge Project in Latimer County, Oklahoma. Located adjacent to Lake Sardis, a United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)–managed facility, the project required a highly constrained design approach to minimize impacts to federal property, jurisdictional waters, and wetlands.
The project was developed to address safety deficiencies related to limited sight distance, correct drainage issues, and rehabilitate deteriorated pavement conditions. Services included roadway geometric design, grading and drainage improvements, pavement rehabilitation, and bridge-related design elements. A key project objective was to avoid impacts to USACE-owned property and eliminate encroachments within the flood control pool elevation, thereby preventing flood storage impacts and the need for compensatory mitigation.
To achieve these goals, Hudson Prince implemented innovative structural solutions, including the use of sheet piling and moment slab systems with barrier, allowing reconstruction within a constrained footprint while avoiding impacts to environmentally sensitive areas. This project demonstrates Hudson Prince’s ability to deliver complex infrastructure improvements within federally regulated environments through creative, context-sensitive design solutions.
