Wild Pains Operations & Maintenance Site Design; NextEra Energy

Cook PLS

Hudson Prince Engineering & Inspection provided stormwater management and erosion control design services for the Wild Plains Wind Project, a large-scale renewable energy development spanning approximately 73 square miles in Sumner County, Kansas. The project includes a 111-turbine wind farm, substation, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) facility, requiring comprehensive environmental planning to support construction and long-term site stability.

Hudson Prince developed a complete Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP) along with Grading, Erosion, and Sediment Control (GESC) plans to meet regulatory requirements and minimize environmental impacts. Services included detailed site analysis, identification of jurisdictional features such as wetlands and streams, and design of temporary and permanent best management practices (BMPs) to control runoff and protect receiving waters.

The team coordinated with regulatory agencies, including the Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and prepared documentation to support stormwater permitting. This project demonstrates Hudson Prince’s ability to deliver environmentally compliant, large-scale infrastructure solutions that balance regulatory requirements with efficient construction and long-term site performance.
